Rachel and Ryan were married during a beautiful outdoor setting in the labyrinth at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Wilkesboro. Their love for each other, family, and ASU were evident everywhere, especially in the hand-made details. Surrounded by so many close friends and getting to know them and their family over the past year made it easy for us to get caught up in the excitement.
The gorgeous yellow flower arrangements were designed by Desi’s Floral and Design Studio.
Every emotion possible from laughter to tears were displayed during their very personal ceremony.
A very lively reception followed in the St. Paul’s Parrish Hall. Cake design by Teresa Greene of Magical Memories.
In case you missed it, be sure to check out Rachel and Ryan’s earlier ASU inspired Engagement Photos in our Facebook post and Rachel’s Bridal Photos on the blog. We wish these two a lifetime of happiness together.

We met Olivia almost three years ago when photographing her sister’s wedding. It is always a pleasure being invited back to photograph another family member. Getting to know families and seeing them grow is one of the greatest perks of our job. James and Olivia’s setting at Grassy Creek Vineyard provided amazing outdoor wedding pictures. Surrounded by a wedding party made up of childhood friends, college roommates, and Westpoint classmates, it was a day filled with laughter, tears, and fun until the very end. Southern hospitality, charming outdoor elegance, and military formality only begins to describe their wedding day.
We wish James and Olivia infinite years of bliss. We are truly grateful for them allowing us the honor of capturing their wedding day.

Rachel is beautiful inside and out. Her creative energy is contagious making it easy to photograph her. We are also pretty sure her blood runs Appalachian State University Black and Gold. With her love of ASU and her interest in waterfalls the backdrops for her bridal photos were an easy choice thanks to the Wilkes County landscape.
Most Brides and even more Moms are skeptical that we can keep a wedding dress clean during outdoor portrait photography. Rachel put her complete trust in us, trekking through a location that most would only consider for a trash the dress session. The reward was a bridal portrait she didn’t have to wait until after the wedding to take or share and a dress that was still clean for the wedding day.
Rachel and Ryan were married on Saturday which means we can now share her bridal photos.
Much thanks to Desi Parker of Desi’s Flora and Design Studio for the beautiful bridal portrait and wedding day floral arrangements.

Something most people wouldn’t know about us is that we love automobiles, chrome, shiny paint jobs, rusted bumpers, and even big bulky beaters. Vehicles with history, stories, musty and rawhide leather smells draw us in and tempt us to spend hours getting to know every detail. It’s an uncommon passion among people our age. This day and time people rarely keep a car long enough for it to become a part of their family. Fortunately that’s not the case for us. Misty still has her very first car, a now pristine 1974 VW Superbeetle, that became a family hobby and in her opinion is priceless. Ryan treasures the memories made in his 1982 light blue Chevy Chevette and at every sighting recollects a story that always draws a smile.
Early on when dating, car shows became a part of our lives and free time. We have countless photos of cool cars, hood ornaments, and chrome reflections of cars that we have no idea who they belong to and in a few cases no clue of their make and model. We love hot rods, old trucks with sexy curves, lead sleds, and engines that will always have an oil leak leaving their mark on the carports and garages that protect them. Recently when looking at stacks of family photos dating back to the 1930s a friend noticed that 25 percent included their cars in the background. We had a revelation that this natural appreciation was breed in us. Even our wedding photos and exit were in Misty’s Grandfather’s 1949 dark green convertible Jeepster.
For a recent portrait session another of her Grandfather’s cars was pulled out of the garage and cleaned up. This time a beautiful one-owner 1958 Cadillac Fleetwood, a car that carried a family of seven and still had room to spare in the back seat and the trunk. Like always the temptation was evoked to spend more time with a car, capturing the details, listening to the stories, and visualizing a period before our time. We hope this opportunity to share a little known fact about ourselves gives friends and fans further insight to who we are. Even more we hope that sharing these images of the Caddy stir your imagination in the way that it does ours.
Our first wedding of 2011 belongs to Kristen and Dustin. After some fear over the weather and devastating tornadoes in other parts of North Carolina it turned out to be beautiful April weather in Wilkes County for these two to say “I Do”. It was a simple country wedding church ceremony and reception with lots of attention and time spent on the details. We will let this sample of their wedding pictures tell the story. Congratulations to Kristen and Dustin!
As we mentioned in our earlier sneak peek blog post, Dustin loves his job as a Fireman at the Wilkesboro station and we were more than happy to incorporate that into our photos.
Be sure to view more of their wedding photos as well as many others on the Pixels On Paper website.
