At the moment I’m writing this tears are streaming down my face. In the middle of editing this very wedding I completely loose all control when I get to this image. With a little bit of composure I feel that I need to share. You may be thinking what’s so special about this photo? For me it represents incredible strength, it means dreams, hopes, and complete joy all coming true. For those who know Amy I hope you see it too.
You see, shortly after getting engaged a year ago Amy was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. When we met her and Rex for their first consult she was trying to plan a wedding while also preparing herself for the treatments that were to begin only a week later. I barely knew her but I knew lots fighting the battle and I was scared for her and Rex. I was scared for what they might loose and for what they might not get to enjoy. If I had known Amy then like I do now those fears may not have been so prominent. She is the most positive and encouraging person I’ve met. She had cancer beat before it even started, at least mentally that is.
This image is the very moment during their ceremony she and Rex turned to face their guests and were pronounced husband and wife. When I first saw this image on my screen I saw both of their smiles, big and larger than life. I saw happiness bursting at the seams. And then I followed her outstretched arm and saw the tattoo on her wrist and I thought to myself VICTORY.
Amy, you have and you will overcome. You are amazing. You are beautiful. Thank you for being a part of my life.

Having already shot Kevin and Ashley’s engagement photos back in July, we knew that this was going to be not only a fun wedding, but one that promised to give us some great portfolio material with loads of awesome wedding pictures. And they did not disappoint! Ashley was simply stunning and Kevin brought a whole new meaning to the GQ style. You can just tell when couples are “made for each other,” and these two definitely are.
A touching ceremony on the rooftop rotunda at the Holiday Inn Center City Charlotte, in which there were few dry eyes, led into a jumping party in the ballroom. Split Second Sound provided the music, with MC/DJs Rashaad and Neil keeping the party going all night. Kevin even jumped in on the mic to sing along and entertain friends on more than one occasion!
We are so thankful to have been a part of Ashley and Kevin’s special day, and look at the fantastic wedding photos we have to add to our collection! They put their trust in our creative photography to capture their day and told us to “do what you do” and we could not be any happier with what we were able to capture. Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Ellis!

Jessica is now married to Chris so we can finally show her awesome bridal photos to the whole world. We photographed these in 95 degree heat and somehow she managed to look as cool as ever, even after a collision with a bench in one of our sets. Jessica asked us during our initial consult to incorporate both her and her now husband’s involvement in the racing industry as well as his love of gator blue and orange into her bridal session. We were more than happy to oblige by finding a set of old fuel pumps in a rustic setting as well as that perfectly shaded gator blue wall. We were grateful that Jessica was so adventuresome and wanted something more than just a traditional portrait. She trusted our creativity and ability to capture light and color allowing the end results to be amazing. Let us know what you think. Our blog loves comments!

OK so we’ve been MIA on the blog scene for a while due to our big move but not to worry, we’ll have more on that coming up soon. In the meantime here is just a small a sneak peek at some of the “work” and fun we were having at Jason and Heather’s wedding last weekend in Asheville at Claxton Farm.
Heather and Jason chose to have a “First Glance” and see each other before the ceremony. Although many are traditionally against it, this is one of the best things a Bride and Groom can do for themselves and their guests. Not only is it the most romantic moment for just the two of them, but it inevitably seems to calm everyone’s nerves before the hectic day that is ahead. A First Glance also allows for more time to be spent getting incredible photographs without the time-sensitivity of everyone waiting on us during the reception. What we love most about these moments is that we capture more relaxed and joyous expressions that we’ve never been able to capture before the ceremony when the don’t see each other.
The moment when Jason first sets eyes on his Bride without being watched by 100s of wedding guests is breath taking. His reaction is genuine and instinctive without being held back. LOVE IT!
There is nothing wrong with wearing a dress and riding a Red Belly Tractor. Growing up my Grandfather had the exact same one and I’m sure I could be seen many times over doing the exact same thing this little cutie is. Another moment that made me smile.
