ashleigh and philip’s nc mountain wedding

Ashleigh and Philip were married in the NC mountains back on May 26 in a wonderfully detailed and well-planned outdoor ceremony.

Ever since having the pleasure of photographing their engagement photos and Ashleigh’s bridal portraits, we have been amazed at the love this couple has for each other. Both have the gift of caring for others, with Philip working as a paramedic in Wilkes County and Ashleigh attending nursing school, and it shows when they are with each other even more.
The ceremony was held outdoors on Ashleigh’s parents’ land next to the river. Guests parked at the field next to the house and were driven down to the ceremony/reception site via golf carts. We recognized immediately how much work had to have gone into the preparation. A small stage was set up for the ceremony along with chairs for all guests surrounded by the lush greenery, the river and an amazing array of pink floral arrangements adding pops of color to the landscape. On the opposite end of the field was an array of tents that were set up to provide shade for guests, a tent for the cake, and a tent for the caterers; all necessary to fight the warm temperatures. Just before the ceremony, things did cool off a little with a brief rain shower, but everyone took it in stride and when the rain stooped, the ceremony went off without a hitch.

The reception kicked off with a mini concert by the group Pistols and Petticoats with guests dancing to some good country music.
Family touches were all around the reception site, from the candy bar for guests, to the decorations on the tables, down to the peach Ne-HI Soda, Ashleigh’s favorite. Even the tents were lit up as the day turned to night with stage lighting in pink and green, the colors from the wedding. It was all in the details.
A few other special touches stand out to us for this high country wedding. Ashleigh and Philip did cut a cake topper, but guests were treated to cupcakes in 10 different flavors! (Pink lemonade was Misty’s favorite) The night concluded with a fireworks display under which Ashleigh and Philip had one final kiss before heading off to their honeymoon through the line up family and friends with party poppers.
Congrats Ashleigh and Philip!

thomas and jennifer’s charlotte wedding | st. mary’s chapel

Who knew something as simple as knowing and being fluent in another language could lead to love and ultimately a fabulous wedding?

Both Jennifer and Thomas were born in Germany to US military parents stationed overseas, but never met until after they moved back stateside. It was a chance meeting in a bar one night where Thomas overheard Jennifer claiming to know German and tested her on it. Just over three years later in the intimate Saint Mary’s Chapel in Charlotte NC, they said their vows in front of family and friends from near and far. As the ceremony concluded, a bag piper was on hand to lead the couple out of the Chapel and into their married life.

The ceremony and reception were filled with details that Jennifer and Thomas spent a lot of time making themselves. We love when couples put their own touches on everything from the programs, to the chapel door decorations and an homage to their German heritage with the Jeep they drove to the reception in being decorated on the front and back with flowers.

The day was personal to the two of them all the way down to the entrance into the reception. Since Thomas is such a HUGE Star Wars fan, the entrance into the Maggiano’s ball room was through a Marine’s style crossed light sabers tunnel created by their bridal party. The Star wars theme carried over to the cake topper as well with the figures of Han Solo and  Princess Leia representing them.

It was amazing to see two families that had not had much time spent together having such a good time. It was as if they had known each other for a long time. From our perspective, seeing how seamlessly the conversations could go from English to German depending on who was speaking, was wonderful. That only helped the party get going and the dance floor stay active all night.

One final detail that we loved being a part of, was the last dance of the night with just Jennifer and Thomas alone, not only alone on the dance floor, but in the entire room with the exception of us photographers and the DJ. It was such a great moment to be a witness to, and something that helped top off the night in a special way. After the last dance it was off to happily ever after through the sparkler lines of family and friends.

Congrats to Jennifer and Thomas on a wonderful day and marriage!

bailey and phillip’s charlotte wedding

Fortunately for us another one of our awesome wedding couples, Erin & Brad spoke very highly of us in regards to their own wedding photos and referred Bailey our way nearly a year ago. Every minute spent with Bailey and Phillip since our first consult has felt like time spent with old friends. We’ve laughed together, teased one another, and even bonded over Bongo their dog during engagement portraits, bridal portraits, and the wedding day. I’m pretty sure we were looking forward to their wedding almost as much as they were and were anxious to see all the details finally come together. Not only did Bailey and Phillip treat us like old friends but even Bailey’s parents made us feel like part of the family. To be so well taken care of and attended to throughout the 12+  hour  day is by no means necessary or the norm.  But it sure does make us feel appreciated and grateful to be a part of such a significant moment in the families lives.

These two are crazy in love and are perfectly made for one another. In all their fun wackiness they perfectly compliment each other. Beyond a doubt we know they are going to be happy for the rest of their lives and are sure to make everyone around them happy too.  Congratulations Bailey & Phillip!

Enjoy these wedding photos which represent the irreplaceable moments and memories we were privileged to capture. And be sure to leave some LOVE for this happy couple. Our blog loves comments!

lauren and joshua | wedding photo gallery | pixels on paper

It seems like only yesterday that Misty was volunteering on the Trinity Baptist Church middle school youth beach trip and came to know Lauren who was a student on the trip. It was easy to see that she had an amazing passion for people and for God even then. Throughout years of youth trips and service projects her passion only grew greater. As did Misty’s friendship with Lauren and her wonderful family, where Lauren obviously learned to love.

Fast forward 10 years later, and imagine the awesome surprise of getting a phone call out of the blue from Lauren asking us to photograph her wedding. How is that possible? She was just in middle school! And who is possibly good enough for “our Lauren?”  The answer, undoubtably is Joshua. You can not only see it but feel it when they are together.

After the consult, the realization was that they are not only madly in love with each other and are a perfect fit, but that they share and incredible passion for God and were focused not on the wedding but on God’s covenant. We were honored to have been a part of the wedding. When you are witness to a love like this, there is just something about it that radiates through everything, including the photos. There were multiple occurrences for us on the wedding day that included goose bumps and tears.

The ceremony, held at Baptist Home Church in North Wilkesboro, was genuine and started as many others do, but their deep faith was shown to all in attendance as the ceremony was drawing to a close. After they had been pronounced husband and wife, and had their first kiss they did something very special that left very few dry eyes in the church, including ours behind the cameras. It is such a simple act, but one that helps demonstrate the love they share. They simply knelt facing each other, head to head and quietly prayed together while the church sang praise and worship. Such a simple, but very powerful and passionate act.

Following the ceremony, despite the temperatures in the low 30’s and winds gusting around 20 miles an hour, Lauren and Joshua were determined to go to Main Street North Wilkesboro for a few additional fun photos. They literally stopped traffic with one of the most picture-perfect dip/kisses we have seen, right in the middle of the street!

The reception kicked off as they descended the steps into The Bassment at Talia’s Espresso where they mingled with friends and family. Jordan, Lauren’s brother, surprised the newlyweds with a slideshow packed with memories from their childhoods. The theme of praise and worship continued with Jenny, the Matron of Honor playing guitar and singing some of Lauren and Joshua’s favorite worship songs.

Joshua and Lauren, we wish you nothing but the best in your marriage. Lauren, you are in great hands!
