We always enjoy getting to head to Leatherwood Mountain for a wedding, and Mercedes and Nathan are the most recent wonderful couple to allow us to photograph there. With the wonderful NC mountains in the background, Leatherwood knows how to make your event great, and with the personal family and creative DIY touches, this outdoor wedding delivered stunning images. And we loved every detail filled minute!
Mercedes and Nathan chose to hold their ceremony in front of the chimney at the old cabin on the grounds at the entrance to the resort. What a stunning backdrop for a touching ceremony. The skies were full of soft fluffy clouds and the temps were just perfect.
The reception was held in the covered riding ring, and was full of all sorts of yummy details that make our heads explode with the possibilities for photos. Mercedes’ mother Rita went all out in making sure this was a day to remember. From a candy bar straight out of an old general store with candy sticks, and all sorts of classic candies, to the hay bails surrounding the dance floor, and the delicious whole pig BBQ pit served up by Gadabouts Catering, no area of the riding ring was left out. There was even a table set up with some props to allow the guests to take their own funny photo booth pictures, which stayed busy most of the night.
When the night was winding down, Mercedes and Nathan hopped on an old tractor that Nathan restored to drive off into married bliss surrounded by family with sparklers.
Congratulations Mercedes ad Nathan!

We always have so much fun at the bridal shows we participate in. Our philosophy is that we have fun doing what we do, and we love to show that to people. That was never more evident than at the Wilkes Wedding Expo held at the John A. Walker Center in Wilkesboro on Sunday, March 11.
From the time the doors opened, despite the large crowd, we were able to spend some time with brides-to-be (and grooms too!). They were able to browse through all of our sample albums, get pricing information and check our available dates. Misty had people lined up just to get in to see all of our work. It was almost difficult at times to see everyone because it was so busy. If we met you at the show and haven’t already scheduled a one-on-one consult with you be sure to call or email us to set that up.
We also had our Future Trophy Bride contest going on in full effect. The photo booth was set up with more props than should be allowed in one space. All of the Brides that signed up were given our awesome Future Trophy Bride pink t-shirt, given free run at the props, and asked to jump into the photo booth for a few photos. There were some absolutely crazy things going on in the booth. No one around was safe from being pulled into a shot, future-mother-in-laws included!
Big congratulations and thank you to Kelly Shumate with Bridal Traditions Wedding and Prom Attire for organizing and hosting such a successful event. The turn out was amazing, and all of her hard work certainly showed. We hope that all the wedding vendors in attendance experienced a successful show.
And last but not least, we cannot forget to mention Misty’s mom, Kathy. She was invaluable with the booth at the show. She managed to keep Ryan in line with the photo booth, even when there was a long line forming for people wanting their chance.
Anyone planning a wedding will get another chance to visit our wedding photo exhibit booth and get a free t-shirt if you participate in our photo booth this Sunday, March 25th, for the Association of Consultants and Events Services (ACES) High Country Wedding Expo. The expo will be at the ASU Summit Trail Solarium on the Campus of ASU in Boone, NC. Admission is $5 or 5 canned goods. Parking is free Sunday in the College Street / Library Parking Deck. Fashion show begins at 2 p.m. We look forward to meeting many new Brides!

It seems like only yesterday that Misty was volunteering on the Trinity Baptist Church middle school youth beach trip and came to know Lauren who was a student on the trip. It was easy to see that she had an amazing passion for people and for God even then. Throughout years of youth trips and service projects her passion only grew greater. As did Misty’s friendship with Lauren and her wonderful family, where Lauren obviously learned to love.
Fast forward 10 years later, and imagine the awesome surprise of getting a phone call out of the blue from Lauren asking us to photograph her wedding. How is that possible? She was just in middle school! And who is possibly good enough for “our Lauren?” The answer, undoubtably is Joshua. You can not only see it but feel it when they are together.
After the consult, the realization was that they are not only madly in love with each other and are a perfect fit, but that they share and incredible passion for God and were focused not on the wedding but on God’s covenant. We were honored to have been a part of the wedding. When you are witness to a love like this, there is just something about it that radiates through everything, including the photos. There were multiple occurrences for us on the wedding day that included goose bumps and tears.
The ceremony, held at Baptist Home Church in North Wilkesboro, was genuine and started as many others do, but their deep faith was shown to all in attendance as the ceremony was drawing to a close. After they had been pronounced husband and wife, and had their first kiss they did something very special that left very few dry eyes in the church, including ours behind the cameras. It is such a simple act, but one that helps demonstrate the love they share. They simply knelt facing each other, head to head and quietly prayed together while the church sang praise and worship. Such a simple, but very powerful and passionate act.
Following the ceremony, despite the temperatures in the low 30’s and winds gusting around 20 miles an hour, Lauren and Joshua were determined to go to Main Street North Wilkesboro for a few additional fun photos. They literally stopped traffic with one of the most picture-perfect dip/kisses we have seen, right in the middle of the street!
The reception kicked off as they descended the steps into The Bassment at Talia’s Espresso where they mingled with friends and family. Jordan, Lauren’s brother, surprised the newlyweds with a slideshow packed with memories from their childhoods. The theme of praise and worship continued with Jenny, the Matron of Honor playing guitar and singing some of Lauren and Joshua’s favorite worship songs.
Joshua and Lauren, we wish you nothing but the best in your marriage. Lauren, you are in great hands!

Kristin and Jason’s October wedding was a beautiful nod to her love of all things vintage. There were loads of hydrangeas, lace, studded jewelry, pearls, and diamond details setting the tone. The color pallet of eggplant and pewter looked stunning among the natural setting at Asbury Park Grove. It was also a fun time for us to meet Jason’s family once again after previously photographing his sister Amanda’s wedding and to make new friends with Kristin’s family.
We wish Kristin and Jason all the very best and hope you enjoy this sampling of wedding photos that we have to share.
