Photographing high school seniors is so much fun especially when they are excited to have a portrait session that is unlike anything they’ve ever experienced and so different from those their classmates are having made. Pixels On Paper is focused on creating a fun and unique photography experience for all of our Senior Sessions. We are bringing an original style and quality to Senior photos that Wilkes and some of the surrounding NC Mountain areas have never experienced or had access to in the past. Why should all these awesome and energetic young people settle for just another boring senior photo shot by a high school appointed photog in front of a dull backdrop? We don’t think they should which is why we’re offering an alternative. If you are or you have a rising High School Senior call us now to schedule a Senior Portrait Session. The ideal session time for the Class of 2013 begins in June. We are looking for reps from each of the surrounding high schools that are enthusiastic about sharing their experience with their classmates.
Brianna contacted us a short time ago eager to schedule her senior session even though she was only a few weeks from graduating. She wanted Senior Pics that would stand out from everyone else and since we had photographed her in January as one of our 2012 Prom Models she knew exactly what kind of photos we would deliver. Not only did she want unique portraits, she wanted us to use those photos to create a graduation announcement that she would be mailing to family and friends, an alternative to those offered by the High School.
For Brianna we designed a 5×7 Graduation Announcement Card. Here is a look at the front of the card.
And a look at the back of the Graduation Announcement card.
It’s hard to believe that Brianna is only a High School Senior when you see her. This girl is gorgeous in and out and aspires to be model and fashion designer. She is artistic, creative, beautiful, humble and a little shy when she is the center of attention. She is the class of 2012 and represents North Wilkes High School. We wish her all the best in everything she does.
Leave Brianna and us some LOVE on our blog. Our blog loves comments!

Recently, we had the privilege of capturing Kayla’s Senior photos. Next fall, she will head off to UNC-Wilmington for her first semester at college. She and her family drove up from east of Charlotte NC for a fun-filled day of senior pics and family portraits with Pixels On Paper in and around Wilkesboro and North Wilkesboro in the NC mountains. We set out on what was close to a full day of traveling between locations that allowed us the freedom to get as creative as possible, all while making sure that we had time for fun and laughs. Kayla’s mom, Kim, and Ryan have long had a friendship that borders on the insane, with constant jokes and teasing, the day of the session was no exception. Even down to pranks via text messages the night before that had him totally confused. (and Kim would say “but that’s easy to do…”)
We chose locations that would capture Kayla’s personality and let her amazing spirit show. From urban to rustic to natural portrait backdrops Kayla rocked our portrait session from start to finish. At one location Kayla’s Dad, Sonny put on his Army uniform to be in some of the photos with her. You could see the pride in both their eyes as they stood next to one another. We were even privileged to be asked to recreate a photo from one of his early returns from deployment when Kayla was just a child. The time we spent and the images we captured make it obvious to us that Kayla gets her compassion for others from her parents.
We have known the family for several years and share a strong passion for hockey, and love of all things Charlotte Checkers. We encourage our Seniors to bring props of their choosing so Kayla brought along one of her favorite Checkers jersey and a hockey stick that we put to good use in what would later resemble an igloo setting.
We are so grateful for the trust that the family put in us to capture Kayla’s personality. She is so kind and has a heart that cares so much for others, with a sarcastic wit that should make her mother proud. Her future is bright and we wish her all the success life has to offer.
Congratulations to the class of 2012 and to Kayla we wish you the absolute best at everything you do!
Our Blog loves comments so be sure to leave us some LOVE! To view more senior photos visit www.pixelsonpaper.biz and to schedule a session for your own portrait photos call or email us.

Well, the day finally arrived that we have dreamed about for several years, agonized over paper work for months and spent sleepless nights imagining. We have taken the next HUGE step for Pixels On Paper and purchased our studio space.
The idea that we wanted a large space of our own was a thought for years and we were not sure how it would happen. We spent a lot of time looking at different location options, and finally landed on Wilkesboro, NC. It was a bit of a struggle because we wanted the small town feel and atmosphere without alienating our clients in Charlotte where we got our start. We feel that being a short driving distance, only a little over an hour from Charlotte, we get the best of both worlds.
We began our search looking at Main Street options with a cool studio street level and our private residence above. After many scenarios and different options on layouts, we quickly realized that either expense or limited availability would not allow that to happen. Finding a way to avoid passing additional expenses along to our clients was a high priority.
It was after a disappointing tour of a property that we were seriously considering that led to a drive on Curtis Bridge Road past a place we had written off earlier, still sitting empty. We pulled in, walked around the outside, peered through the windows and both began to get a certain feeling and just looked at each other and knew…THIS IS IT! It was completely opposite of the ideal space we originally had in mind but yet so much more than we could have imagined. We very quickly began the purchase process on the historic farmhouse house that was built in 1854. The process consumed us, taking lots of work, causing a few tears when the process wasn’t going as expected and four months later led to to the excitement of finally receiving the keys.
Although in great shape for being 158 years old, we will be working on the space longer than originally anticipated now that weekends are consumed by wedding season. The timing is not ideal but we realize that our timing is not what God had in mind for us. There are reasons that we will see later for why we have had to struggle to achieve our dream.
And just so there is a true appreciation of all the work that will transform this beauty located at 1198 Curtis Bridge Road in Wilkesboro here are a few of the “before” photos.
For all the wonderful clients who we consider friends, family and new people we are meeting through this process, thank you! We are so blessed to be able to do a job we love and be surrounded with such supportive and loving people.
As we move forward with the space, we will try our best to keep everyone updated on the progress through our blog, Twitter and Facebook. Be sure to check back and follow our journey, or if you would like to help, we will post when we will be there working, bring a fun attitude and be a part of it all.
Again, thank you for allowing us to be a small part of your lives and for all that you do for us, it does not go unnoticed.
With much love and gratitude,
Misty and Ryan
It is very exciting for use when we have photographed a couples wedding and they return for all their future creative portrait photography needs. Just like these two! Kristen and Dustin are still technically newlyweds with less than a year of marriage behind them. They love photos and are determined to begin the tradition of annual family portrait pictures. Like I’ve been saying for years to other couples, you don’t have to have kids to have portrait pictures! Kristen and Dustin’s family currently consists of the two of them and one super cute fur-baby named Tiger.
Enjoy the pictures of this super cute and sweet couple!
