Mia and Andre were married on August 11, 2012 on what wound up being a whirlwind of a day thanks to Mother Nature. The original plan was to have the ceremony outdoors at Greensboro College on the porch of one of the main administrative buildings. We were sure excited at the prospect of the day, but were a little leery of the weather reports saying rain was on the way. And rain it did pour with thunderstorms for hours on end.
With a few hours to the ceremony’s start time, the decision was made and the back up plan was put into action. Luckily Mia’s parents live in Greensboro and the decision had been made to move the ceremony to their home church a short drive away. To the church we go!
We are used to having to think on our toes each at every wedding since something can always go wrong, so we had a job to do and were ready when the time came. We had to shoot most of the pre-cermony shots in the church taking advantage of the chapel and hallways as best we could. We were able to take advantage of a very brief few moments of clear skies with a few photos outside. Not the best scenario, but one we were dealt and had to work with.
The ceremony itself was an elaborate affair with musicians performing while guests were seated followed by a brief concert of songs that meant a lot to Mia and Andre. Just before Mia walked down the aisle, a dancer performed as guests stood to welcome the bride.
After the ceremony, the rain was still coming down so it was off to the reception at the Greensboro Coliseum, where Nicole Conder of Premier Party Planners had transformed the Terrace into a fabulous party. From the start of the party, all the memories of the rain melted away and the guests were treat to a wonderful night. Everyone packed the dance floor thanks to PC Productions DJ and entertainment spinning the tunes that made people want to dance. It was so much fun to be a part of such a great reception.
We are so thankful for all the opportunities to test ourselves with each wedding, with some more challenging than others. But as a husband and wife team we are there together working our way through for our clients and friends.
We also had the opportunity to shoot Mia’s bridal portraits in and around downtown Greensboro NC. Her portraits were stunning and she was an amazing model. Here are just a few that we are excited to finally share.
Congrats to Mia and Andre!

We always have so much fun at the bridal shows we participate in. Our philosophy is that we have fun doing what we do, and we love to show that to people. That was never more evident than at the Wilkes Wedding Expo held at the John A. Walker Center in Wilkesboro on Sunday, March 11.
From the time the doors opened, despite the large crowd, we were able to spend some time with brides-to-be (and grooms too!). They were able to browse through all of our sample albums, get pricing information and check our available dates. Misty had people lined up just to get in to see all of our work. It was almost difficult at times to see everyone because it was so busy. If we met you at the show and haven’t already scheduled a one-on-one consult with you be sure to call or email us to set that up.
We also had our Future Trophy Bride contest going on in full effect. The photo booth was set up with more props than should be allowed in one space. All of the Brides that signed up were given our awesome Future Trophy Bride pink t-shirt, given free run at the props, and asked to jump into the photo booth for a few photos. There were some absolutely crazy things going on in the booth. No one around was safe from being pulled into a shot, future-mother-in-laws included!
Big congratulations and thank you to Kelly Shumate with Bridal Traditions Wedding and Prom Attire for organizing and hosting such a successful event. The turn out was amazing, and all of her hard work certainly showed. We hope that all the wedding vendors in attendance experienced a successful show.
And last but not least, we cannot forget to mention Misty’s mom, Kathy. She was invaluable with the booth at the show. She managed to keep Ryan in line with the photo booth, even when there was a long line forming for people wanting their chance.
Anyone planning a wedding will get another chance to visit our wedding photo exhibit booth and get a free t-shirt if you participate in our photo booth this Sunday, March 25th, for the Association of Consultants and Events Services (ACES) High Country Wedding Expo. The expo will be at the ASU Summit Trail Solarium on the Campus of ASU in Boone, NC. Admission is $5 or 5 canned goods. Parking is free Sunday in the College Street / Library Parking Deck. Fashion show begins at 2 p.m. We look forward to meeting many new Brides!

It seems like only yesterday that Misty was volunteering on the Trinity Baptist Church middle school youth beach trip and came to know Lauren who was a student on the trip. It was easy to see that she had an amazing passion for people and for God even then. Throughout years of youth trips and service projects her passion only grew greater. As did Misty’s friendship with Lauren and her wonderful family, where Lauren obviously learned to love.
Fast forward 10 years later, and imagine the awesome surprise of getting a phone call out of the blue from Lauren asking us to photograph her wedding. How is that possible? She was just in middle school! And who is possibly good enough for “our Lauren?” The answer, undoubtably is Joshua. You can not only see it but feel it when they are together.
After the consult, the realization was that they are not only madly in love with each other and are a perfect fit, but that they share and incredible passion for God and were focused not on the wedding but on God’s covenant. We were honored to have been a part of the wedding. When you are witness to a love like this, there is just something about it that radiates through everything, including the photos. There were multiple occurrences for us on the wedding day that included goose bumps and tears.
The ceremony, held at Baptist Home Church in North Wilkesboro, was genuine and started as many others do, but their deep faith was shown to all in attendance as the ceremony was drawing to a close. After they had been pronounced husband and wife, and had their first kiss they did something very special that left very few dry eyes in the church, including ours behind the cameras. It is such a simple act, but one that helps demonstrate the love they share. They simply knelt facing each other, head to head and quietly prayed together while the church sang praise and worship. Such a simple, but very powerful and passionate act.
Following the ceremony, despite the temperatures in the low 30’s and winds gusting around 20 miles an hour, Lauren and Joshua were determined to go to Main Street North Wilkesboro for a few additional fun photos. They literally stopped traffic with one of the most picture-perfect dip/kisses we have seen, right in the middle of the street!
The reception kicked off as they descended the steps into The Bassment at Talia’s Espresso where they mingled with friends and family. Jordan, Lauren’s brother, surprised the newlyweds with a slideshow packed with memories from their childhoods. The theme of praise and worship continued with Jenny, the Matron of Honor playing guitar and singing some of Lauren and Joshua’s favorite worship songs.
Joshua and Lauren, we wish you nothing but the best in your marriage. Lauren, you are in great hands!

Words can’t even begin to express how awesome it was to photograph Laura and Chumah. From the moment they won our Charlotte Future Trophy Bride contest with 467 facebook votes we knew there was a lot of fun in store. Laura is quiet and shy with stunning discreet beauty and is passionate about art. In front of the camera she is high fashion, confident, and a risk taker. Chumah, a native of Kenya, is outgoing, always in motion, a scholar soccer athlete, and always the jokster. In front of the camera he is GQ, serious and intense. The combination of these two and their love for each other was our ultimate dream. They delivered killer engagement pictures which you can see here, and their wedding pictures were even more amazing.
We understand that these photos may not be everyone’s preference for wedding photos but it was exactly what Laura and Chumah wanted. They did not want traditional wedding photos. They wanted creative photography, high fashion portrait photos, and wedding images that captured the moments. It’s our job as wedding photographers to make sure that we are a good match for our clients, then to make sure we understand and can deliver and exceed their expectations. And all the while we get to have a blast doing what we love.
