This wraps up the 3rd senior in the family of three kids – er young adults. We previously photographed Paiton and Quinton. Mom Timberli wanted photos every couple of years to capture the growth and changes in her three kids and you guys. Like her siblings, Paiton and Quinton, Maddie has transformed into a stunning young lady and amazing person.
Below: Maddie 2010, 2013 and 2017. See what I’m talking about? One minute she’s a barefooted girl, cute as the day is long, and now she’s elegance and grace.
We’ve been planning these sessions all year with Timberli who wanted each of her seniors to be photographed during different seasons. Paiton was Spring, Quinton was Summer and now Maddie in Fall. The Roberts’ family home now showcases a collection of 24″x 36″ canvases of each senior.
Here they are … and parents everywhere sigh at how fast it all goes by. Now we’re hoping to convince parents Chris and Timberli they should do a Winter session to complete the seasons. We love this family and can’t wait to see all the other milestones they have ahead of them and that we hope to photograph.
We love family portraits whether they are set in the studio, the great outdoors, a specific location like the mountains or high country, or on our property in our outdoor portrait garden. Pixels on Paper photographs, engagements and weddings, brides, and special events and portraits of all kinds in our Wilkesboro, NC studio. We would be honored to meet with you, learn about you and your family and be a part of taking special portraits that will become, we hope, family heirlooms.

Recently we were hired by good friend and fellow wedding aficionado, Kelly of BeYOUtiful Prom Boutique at Bridal Traditions to take some commercial fashion photos for her. We go way back with Kelly and with her amazing business, so we were jazzed to jump in and do our part to help her as she prepares her marketing materials for 2018’s prom season. We photographed model and real junior-prom attendee Stacie Shumate in her actual prom gown purchased from BeYOUtiful Prom. The fashion shoot took place in our outdoor portrait garden at the Pixels’ studio in Wilkesboro. We photographed Stacie’s portraits just three short years ago in the peach orchards and can’t believe how much she has changed in such a short time. It was a pleasure and a treat! Thanks for letting us be a part of your business and life and for letting us watch you grow Stacie. We love family portraits whether they are set in the studio, the great outdoors, a specific location like the mountains or high country, or on our property in our outdoor portrait garden. I find myself reminding friends, family and clients not to drop off into no man’s land with professional portraits when their kiddos head off to elementary or middle school only to resume them when they graduate from high school. Snapshots are awesome and we know you parents out there are handling those with your 35mm cameras and smart phones. But professional portraits allow us not only to control lighting and help with posing, location and mood, but we’re capturing memories and creating family heirlooms. All the change you see when you look back at picture albums or the walls of your home can be chronicled in portrait sessions. They are also of a quality that can be placed on canvases, hung on walls and passed down for generations.
This handsome young man is Quinton Roberts and he’s the proof in the pudding that taking portraits over a period of time is valuable. We have been photographing his family and their family business, Brushy Mountain Dental, since 2010. He’s the eldest sibling in the family and graduated in May from Wilkes Community College. His mom wanted portraits of him upon his graduation, and while most guys at Quinton’s age are less than thrilled to have their photo taken, fortunately for us, he wanted to make his mom happy.
See what I mean about the importance of getting photos along the way? Look how much Quinton changed in just 7 short years! This latest shoot was really easy, because we’ve built a great relationship with him over the last 7 years. He was comfortable with us and we with him. He really is a great guy and from a wonderful family.
Mom Timberli has a specific idea in mind for large wall portraits in her home of all three kids during their graduation milestones and we’ve had fun making that vision come to life. We recently photographed Quinton’s sister Paiton for her senior high school photos. This fall, the youngest sister Madi will be a senior in high school and we’re already planning her portrait photography session.
If your kids are in that age of constant growth, be it early, middle or later teen years and you want portraits of them, please contact us. We would love to be the ones to photograph those milestones for your family.
You can look at a couple and sort of see when they’re at the beginning of a relationship, of their journey together, or the beginning of something big. I love this scene from The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. He’s been daydreaming in hyper-drive about her, obsessing about what “they” might be and FINALLY – at the end (it’s a movie, folks, you know how it works), they begin what might be an actual love affair.
So, now you’re engaged! Tell us how it happened. Flash mob dancing to or singing your favorite song? A video journal with all the memories leading up to falling in love? Scavenger hunt? Did you order a pizza and just decide “let’s do this!?” Regardless: congratulations! You’re at the beginning and this is where we come in as seasoned husband and wife and experienced engagement and wedding photographers. Whether they are indoor portraits or outdoor shots at your favorite spot, we know how to capture the beginning of your life together, tell your story and make it fun.
AND! Engagement portrait sessions are complimentary in most of our wedding photography packages.
We take engagement portraits pretty much anywhere and everywhere our clients ask us to and so far we haven’t had any request too audacious. We always ask couples to think about a place that means something to them and we’ll make it work. There’s something about your first official portraits together as a To Be Married pair, so we want you to be relaxed, excited (you can do both!) and let us handle the results. Engagement portraits are a way for us to get to know our wedding clients better. We get to learn about you, see how comfortable you are in front of the camera and help you increase your comfort level before the wedding day. It’s great practice in posing, and figuring out if you can be candid in front of the camera without our guidance or if you need a little coaching. We’re on YOUR team, so we love the engagement session because it’s an opportunity to create a level of familiarity and comfort.
As you plan your big day, don’t forget the engagement portraits can be dressy or casual and given as gifts, put on your wedding website or save the date cards or just sent out to friends via social media. Whatever you decide though, these shots are important and you’ll never regret having them made.
We were also the wedding photographers for each of these couples above and hundreds of others. If you’re looking for photographers for your engagement portraits and wedding day in 2017, it’s not too soon to start planning and booking. I know…. it’s the second week of January, but you’ll be glad you did. Contact us and let’s get started.

We love the orchards and spring means orchard photography sessions. On their own, the trees and land are gorgeous with blossoms and again later when the trees are overcome with fruit. But they’re even better when populated with a ridiculously perfect kiddo like Conner Tevepaugh. He’s fresh and delicious all year, but we love him in this setting for sure. How handsome and suave is he in that hat, say nothing of those eyes!? Heaven help him, these are some of the photos his folks are going to show his fiancée when the time comes. And heaven help his own kids in topping that level of yumminess in their portraits some day.
This is the first time we were actually able to photograph Conner in the orchard blooms and we’re so happy it could finally happen. Last year, at only four months, he was a very sleepy baby who basically just wanted to be held. PRIORITIES! And this year, at 16 months, he seemed in a similar mood. “WHY IN THE WORLD would I wake up for a camera?” He may be part Marlon Brando (The Later Years), but before we knew it he was playing with sticks and running through the trees and knocking us out with cuteness. As with almost all other boys, capturing photos while they’re in action yields way more than a posed portrait. He didn’t want to be still once he got going and since we’re able-bodied, we were ready to dart, pivot, coax and dive.
And there it is (just above)… the one that is going to slay his first girlfriend, enrapture his college sweetheart, capture his wife for good and ensure that his mom keeps the hugs and adoring glances coming his way for a lifetime.
