Each trip back to Leatherwood Mountains to photograph a mountain wedding is just as special as the first. Before the land was a resort and the old log cabin was a visitor’s center, it was simply mountains, farm land, and a home to members of Misty’s family. We try to capture the history and a bit of that sentimental value for each couple that have decided to exchange their vows in this beautiful portion of Wilkes County.
Recently Abbie, Leatherwood’s awesome wedding coordinator, has created all inclusive wedding packages for everything from an intimate setting for two people in a meadow to an elaborate wedding celebration for guests of a hundred or more. It’s a brilliant idea and especially great for those that are just to busy to be occupied with all the details of a wedding. Andrea and Mike, from Garner, NC took advantage of all Leatherwood and Abbie’s packages had to offer for their destination wedding. What initially was planned as an outdoor ceremony in front of the cabin’s rock chimney was moved inside one of many gorgeous mountain homes due to rain. Set on top of a peak, in front of a 30 foot wall of windows overlooking a picturesque scene of rolling mountains, they still had an incredible backdrop.
We’re happy to share these wedding pictures from Andrea & Mike’s mountain wedding and look forward to our next return to Leatherwood.

Rachel is beautiful inside and out. Her creative energy is contagious making it easy to photograph her. We are also pretty sure her blood runs Appalachian State University Black and Gold. With her love of ASU and her interest in waterfalls the backdrops for her bridal photos were an easy choice thanks to the Wilkes County landscape.
Most Brides and even more Moms are skeptical that we can keep a wedding dress clean during outdoor portrait photography. Rachel put her complete trust in us, trekking through a location that most would only consider for a trash the dress session. The reward was a bridal portrait she didn’t have to wait until after the wedding to take or share and a dress that was still clean for the wedding day.
Rachel and Ryan were married on Saturday which means we can now share her bridal photos.
Much thanks to Desi Parker of Desi’s Flora and Design Studio for the beautiful bridal portrait and wedding day floral arrangements.

For some reason we have the opportunity to photograph more girls than guys for family portraits. So when Mom, Luann said to us “I want you to take pictures of my boys” (who happen to race motocross, are super cute, and need portfolios). We said YES PLEASE!
What impressed us most, Frank and Nick came out of their house and were the first to introduce themselves and offer their hands for a shake. How many 9-14 year olds do you know that do this with adults??? They were so polite, social, and were naturals, totally comfortable in their own skin! We could photograph these guys for hours and we did.
This is not your typical portrait of a child or high school senior pics kind of session. This is what happens during a Pixels On Paper portrait session! As long as you keep sending us girls and GUYS to photograph we’ll keep making magic happen.
The best part was seeing these guys in their own element surrounded by their sport, their hobby, and their passion. These two are into motocross and are traveling the circuit. When on the bikes they get serious and are totally Bad A**. Keep your eyes out in the future for them in the magazines.
Check out our website and Facebook pages for more creative photography during family portraits and senior pics.

Our first wedding of 2011 belongs to Kristen and Dustin. After some fear over the weather and devastating tornadoes in other parts of North Carolina it turned out to be beautiful April weather in Wilkes County for these two to say “I Do”. It was a simple country wedding church ceremony and reception with lots of attention and time spent on the details. We will let this sample of their wedding pictures tell the story. Congratulations to Kristen and Dustin!
As we mentioned in our earlier sneak peek blog post, Dustin loves his job as a Fireman at the Wilkesboro station and we were more than happy to incorporate that into our photos.
Be sure to view more of their wedding photos as well as many others on the Pixels On Paper website.
