Minick Family Christmas Photos 2021
Another opportunity to run around downtown North Wilkesboro, play among the lights, and do it with family: YES PLEASE!
If you’ve followed this blog for more than a year, then you know that we are not only familial with the Minicks, but we’ve shot more portrait sessions with them than there is time to count. Engagement, wedding, maternity, newborn, 6-month, birthdays, family portraits outside and in our studio, we have images of Ryan and Rachel and kids Amelia and Matt that number in the thousands. This Christmas, we added more and this time, the children were the stars.
Amelia and Matt Matt hammed it up around the lights and holiday features, jumped, danced, played and chased each other. I love these joyful and more dynamic shoots during the holidays with kids. Everyone’s ready to celebrate and that’s difficult while sitting still, if you ask me.

Season of Giving Starts Now
Yes, it’s Prime ordering season, pardon the pun, and I’ll never shame any of us for making our lives easier by saving money ordering from a mammoth company because there’s free shipping. No shade throwing here.
But (you knew it was coming), this has been a year like no other that most of us have seen, and small businesses need us now more than ever. Shop local when you can. Buy from people you see at church, went to school with, are your neighbors (masks and all) because we appreciate your business more than you could possible know.
Before you decide on purchasing things that will get smashed, lost, ignored or summarily tossed aside by February 1st, I hope you’ll think about a gift of memory, history and love: give portraits, keepsake boxes, canvases and memory books!
If you have been a client of Pixels on Paper for any type of portrait session, then any of your photos can be designed for Christmas cards. You do not have to be wearing a reindeer sweater.
Another very popular gift item is our proof collection box. It’s a keepsake box with a 4 x 6 print of every image from their portrait session included in the box (see the first image at the opening of this blog).
Photo books as well as framed prints or canvases make AMAZING, memorable presents for parents, grandparents, siblings and friends. People tend to focus on wedding and newborn portraits, but we have photographed so many families, high school and college friendships, couples before, during and after the arrival of a baby, and siblings through various phases of life that we hope you’ll think outside of a simple framed image and provide a real packaged heirloom for someone you love.
Every year, I make a photo album as a Christmas gift for each set of grandparents. They get all the portraits of Finley packaged nicely and frankly, it’s what they want the most. Consider that before you buy a bunch of socks, subscriptions and non-recyclable, soul-sucking “things.”
And finally, we have gift cards and these make wonderful gifts as well. Pregnant daughter or daughter in laws all need a maternity, newborn, 6 month and one year portrait session.

Happy Valentine’s Day – Love and Photography
Valentines come in many shapes and sizes, but love is love. Holding your little sister? Yep… LOVE.
Enjoying a view while engaged? Love. You’re not married, but you’re FOR REAL. Watching couples take in a view reminds Ryan and me of falling in love with each other and why we love taking images like the one above of couples at the beginning. 
Loving your family enough to make arrangements and drag your buns from the 4 corners to get a photo for scrapbooks and walls? That’s LOVE.
Siblings, newlyweds, babies …………. all love and easy to love (maybe not always the teenagers).
New love, enduring love, love surrounded by family in a kilt or held in your arms for the first time – we celebrate love in all of its forms. Hug your sweetheart, scratch your dog or pet your cats, cuddle your baby, share chocolates with your coworkers or neighbors and, for the love of Pete – call your Mom!!!

Christmas/Holiday Portrait Sessions : Don’t Forget to Book
If you haven’t already booked and are considering it, I’m hoping you’ll schedule your family’s holiday portrait session with us. This year, we are offering two options from which to choose. The first are the in-home documentary sessions just as we did last year. We shot several of these and we, and they, LOVED the experience. We’re excited to do it again this year. In-home sessions can be scheduled from the time that a family’s home is decorated (or being decorated) until December 10th.
Last year we spent time with the Minick family, the Hollands, the Pierce’s and others and it was better than we expected. If you’re decorating and think you want to go for it, I encourage you to. The Hollands were a perfect fit, because they decorated but were so relaxed and playful. They were all about games, food, decorating and allowing us to join in.
Studio sessions will be Friday-Sunday November 17th – December 10th.
We’re not changing our pricing for 2017! Here are the details:
For only $125, we will provide 5 digital images for families with up to 3 children. This includes the printing rights along with the option to purchase prints, cards, and gifts. Pets and additional children or family members are welcome for an additional $25.
Our fee is due when you make your reservation.

Christmas Portraits are booking now at the Pixels on Paper studio
It’s the most wonderful time of the year ….. to check stuff off of your never-ending To Do List.
Believe me, we get it. We run a business, we’re married, we have family we want to plan holidays around, we have hobbies and community work we care about and suddenly October has moved to Thanksgiving. December feels essentially like being shot out of cannon. This task, however, this SUPER easy item you’ll check off, is valuable. It lasts. It’s time to book your portrait with us at our festive and festooned studio.

More examples of portraits!
We spend all year thinking about this season and what to do with our studio. For 2015, we’ve moved from the classic red and green to silver, gold, winter white, natural green and then we’ve added rustic elements like wood and pine cones, gilded frames, mountain themes and the baubles and sheen that are more urban and chic. We cannot wait to create portraits of you and your family – this includes friends who are much family to you as your relatives – your babies, kids and even your pets.
We will also be scheduling FREE CHRISTMAS PET PORTRAITS for 2015. The last time we did this was in 2012 and it’s time, gang. We’re planning on Saturday, December 12. Bring your pet and a 20 lb. bag of food. More details to come.
