Heather and Jason are super casual and relaxed. They live in Asheville and both absolutely love to be outdoors spending a lot of their free time fishing in the mountains or working in their garden. Heather changed her mind only a matter of weeks before their wedding date and decided to have engagement pictures taken with us so that they would be more comfortable in front of our cameras on the day of the wedding. This is absolutely one of the best reasons to have engagement photos. Not only does it give us all a chance to get to know each other but its good practice and a lot of fun. If you’re the least be anxious about having your photo taken a portrait session will help relieve those worries and fears. We also always recommend that its a setting where you could normally be found so that years down the road your not looking at a photo in an insignificant place or activity.
We’re looking forward to being in Asheville at the end of August to photograph Heather and Jason’s outdoor wedding pictures at Claxton Farm.

Before we take a few days to enjoy the holiday weekend we want to leave all our fans with a sneak peek of wedding pictures from Erica and Andrew’s outdoor wedding this past weekend in Boone NC. It was hard to pick only a few of the stunning images to share but while the two newlyweds are honeymooning in the Mexican Riveria this teaser should be enough to make sure they return home to see the rest. Enjoy!
In case you missed Erica’s bridal photos on the blog check them out here. As always, you can view more of our photos at our website, www.pixlesonpaper.net.

We’ve been absolutely beside ourselves wanting to share Erica’s bridal photos since the very moment we began shooting them. We knew when that first shutter clicked in this breath-taking setting and the preview panel on our camera confirmed what was happening, this session would deliver images that would blow our minds.
Erica requested that we shoot her bridal photos in a high-fashion style, yet in a natural mountain setting that would not easily lend itself to what others consider a backdrop for couture fashion. During our pre-session conversations Erica described her dress as “fabulous” and oh my was it ever. Purchased and perfectly fitted by the amazing staff at The Lily Rose her Pronovias gown was stunningly fabulous. The silk and ruffles added drama to the majestic ambience we captured. Erica trusted us fully, not only to keep the dress perfectly clean and safe in some of the most precarious positions but also with the unusual poses and body contortions we asked her to perform, giving us total creative photography freedom. We hope you find the outcome in these outdoor wedding pictures as breath-taking as we do.
Much thanks to The Lodges at Eagles Nest for allowing us the use of their facilities and amazing environment. If you are looking for a unique location for an outdoor wedding in the North Carolina High Country be sure to check out their many options for wedding services.
Keep watching for a future post on Erica and Andrew’s wedding day. Or view more of our photos on our website.

Rachel and Ryan were married during a beautiful outdoor setting in the labyrinth at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Wilkesboro. Their love for each other, family, and ASU were evident everywhere, especially in the hand-made details. Surrounded by so many close friends and getting to know them and their family over the past year made it easy for us to get caught up in the excitement.
The gorgeous yellow flower arrangements were designed by Desi’s Floral and Design Studio.
Every emotion possible from laughter to tears were displayed during their very personal ceremony.
A very lively reception followed in the St. Paul’s Parrish Hall. Cake design by Teresa Greene of Magical Memories.
In case you missed it, be sure to check out Rachel and Ryan’s earlier ASU inspired Engagement Photos in our Facebook post and Rachel’s Bridal Photos on the blog. We wish these two a lifetime of happiness together.

Each trip back to Leatherwood Mountains to photograph a mountain wedding is just as special as the first. Before the land was a resort and the old log cabin was a visitor’s center, it was simply mountains, farm land, and a home to members of Misty’s family. We try to capture the history and a bit of that sentimental value for each couple that have decided to exchange their vows in this beautiful portion of Wilkes County.
Recently Abbie, Leatherwood’s awesome wedding coordinator, has created all inclusive wedding packages for everything from an intimate setting for two people in a meadow to an elaborate wedding celebration for guests of a hundred or more. It’s a brilliant idea and especially great for those that are just to busy to be occupied with all the details of a wedding. Andrea and Mike, from Garner, NC took advantage of all Leatherwood and Abbie’s packages had to offer for their destination wedding. What initially was planned as an outdoor ceremony in front of the cabin’s rock chimney was moved inside one of many gorgeous mountain homes due to rain. Set on top of a peak, in front of a 30 foot wall of windows overlooking a picturesque scene of rolling mountains, they still had an incredible backdrop.
We’re happy to share these wedding pictures from Andrea & Mike’s mountain wedding and look forward to our next return to Leatherwood.
