Weddings in the NC mountains are always a favorite for us, especially when the ceremony is held outdoor at Leatherwood Mountains located in Ferguson NC near Boone in the NC High Country. The backdrops that the mountains offer are second to none with endless possibilities around Leatherwood resort.
Long before Sarah and Jeremy’s wedding day, we had the opportunity to photograph Sarah’s bridal photography. We have been wanting to do a “peach blossom shoot” for a long time, and when the timing was right, we were lucky enough for great weather. We photographed among the peach and apple blossoms in orchards in Brushy Mountain, NC. Sarah’s dance background allowed us to push her posing a little farther than we normally get to do, and the results were simply stunning! We got creative by incorporating Sarah’s life as a dancer and love for horses as you can see in her bride photos shown below.
Sarah and Jeremy chose the perfect wedding day. With a nice breeze blowing through the NC Mountains and fair temperatures, they said their “I do’s” at the main Leatherwood cabin in front of their families and closest friends. When you are surrounded by horse stables and have a love for horses, what better way to arrive at the ceremony site than in a horse-drawn carriage. Sarah stepped out of the carriage and walked to a waiting Jeremy at the end of the aisle where they exchanged vows that they wrote for each other. After they lit the unity candle and exchanged rings, they were announced as husband and wife and had their first kiss as a married couple.
Following the post ceremony photos with Sarah and Jeremy off in the meadow and in the stables, all of the guests were treated to a wonderful reception in the covered riding ring surrounded by details of hand made decor and plenty of personal touches. A BBQ dinner was catered by Tipton’s of Wilkesboro NC while Ball and Ball DJ entertained the guests.
After a long afternoon of celebration, it was finally time to let the newlyweds head off to their honeymoon, but not before one last dance. While guests headed out of the riding ring to line up for the bubble send-off, Sarah and Jeremy got the chance to have the place to themselves for one final wedding dance.
Be sure to check out Sarah and Jeremy’s engagement portraits here if you have not seen them.
We are grateful to have been Sarah & Jeremy’s chosen wedding photographers and we wish them a life full of romance.

Bailey and Phillip live in the Raleigh Durham area, are getting married in Charlotte, but wanted engagement photos in a much more tranquil location in the Blue Ridge mountains of NC. Spending time with these two in a beautiful outdoor setting and playing with their fur baby, a gorgeous German Shepherd named Bongo, made it easy to see why they are so in love. No matter how uncomfortable a couple is in front of our camera, being totally in to each other puts everyone at ease. The way Bailey beams with happiness and is filled with laughter by Phillip’s simple touch is obvious in the candid photos. And Phillip’s ADD tendencies were hilarious and reminded me of Ryan, especially when there is a dog to pester and play with.
Engagement photos are a great way to get to know our couples making it more fun and easy going on the wedding day. What I know for sure is that I can totally see myself hanging out with these two and Bongo anytime!

Ashleigh and Philip wanted to take advantage of what was remaining of the gorgeous fall foliage in the Wilkes County mountains for their engagement photos while a bit of the color still remained. We found a perfect hidden gem of a spot that suited them just perfectly. Surrounded by trees wrapped in vibrant colors, running water, wooden bridges and golden hay bails, these two love birds were the perfect feature in an environment that they seemed more than comfortable to be a part of.
We are looking forward to photographing their outdoor wedding in Wilkes next May. In the meantime show us and them some love on the blog. Our blog loves comments!

Heather and Jason are super casual and relaxed. They live in Asheville and both absolutely love to be outdoors spending a lot of their free time fishing in the mountains or working in their garden. Heather changed her mind only a matter of weeks before their wedding date and decided to have engagement pictures taken with us so that they would be more comfortable in front of our cameras on the day of the wedding. This is absolutely one of the best reasons to have engagement photos. Not only does it give us all a chance to get to know each other but its good practice and a lot of fun. If you’re the least be anxious about having your photo taken a portrait session will help relieve those worries and fears. We also always recommend that its a setting where you could normally be found so that years down the road your not looking at a photo in an insignificant place or activity.
We’re looking forward to being in Asheville at the end of August to photograph Heather and Jason’s outdoor wedding pictures at Claxton Farm.

Ashley and Kevin are getting married on September 30th. Never have they been more glad to be getting married later in the year than on the 90 + degree June day we photographed their engagement photos. Even though we started early in the morning the heat was on, both in and out of the photos. But these two were troopers and Kevin kept us in hysterical laughter throughout the session. We teased Kevin about being the center of attention but as the pictures show Ashley certainly knows how to steal his show. We look forward to stepping up with more creative photography for their wedding pictures in September at the Holiday Inn Center City Charlotte.
