Sharing is Caring – The win-win of client referrals & community
Ever heard that phrase? Well sharing really is caring when it comes to our clients and the reciprocal love fest that happens when they tell others about us. Lately, we’ve been musing about how much our clients stick with us over the years. In fact – true, loyal friendships have developed and we consider more than two handfuls of our clients to be family now. It’s a real perk of this gig: doing life with you guys.

In an effort to spread some of that love around, we’re introducing a referral program to reward those who share our name with others, allowing us to continue growing our business and our community of family.
So, if you are an existing client, listen up – (please and thank you):
- Any existing client of Pixels (you’ve hired us for a wedding or portrait session of one type or another) who refers us to someone who then books us for a wedding, will receive their own FREE portrait session PLUS $250 in print credits from us.
AND, ALSO:
- Any existing client of Pixels who refers us to someone who then books us for a portrait session, will receive their own FREE portrait session that year PLUS $50 in print credits from us. For every additional referral they send us, they will receive yet another $50 print credit. The more you send others who book with us, the more rewards we’re happy to lavish on you.
Portraits, for us, come in all types, just like our subjects come in all shapes and sizes. Newborns, first birthdays, families and family reunions, milestones, graduations, and of course bridals and engagements.
- KEY NOTES: We want our existing clients to make sure to tell the folks they are referring to us to MENTION THE REFERRING CLIENT’S NAME, so that they get the rewards they deserve. If someone books a wedding or portrait and doesn’t mention that they heard about us from you, how will we be able to shower you with some love?

Portraits for Mother’s Day
This short video cracked us up, because in at least one of these clips you can see your own mom, perhaps. And don’t freak out: the video is from a couple of years ago. Mother’s Day is May 13 this year so you’ve got a couple of months to think about how great it would be to schedule mother’s day portraits or family portraits to give to her. You KNOW it goes without saying that the two things your mom wants more than anything are gifts that become mementos and time with her.
Moms….I love mine so much it hurts. She’s my best friend and we laugh, learn, garden and unpack the world together. Now I am one. Finley has made me so aware of why mothers say and do all that they do. It’s humbling and it’s wild and Ryan and I feel like our hearts are going to explode some days due to the amount of unexpected joy and revelation he’s brought into our lives.

Holidays are daily if you get the “National Calendar” eblasts that celebrate everything from National Peanut Butter Day to National Tell a Fairy Tale Day to National Sleeping in Public Day. [No, I did not make those up.] But Mother’s Day, ya’ll…….. it’s really real and it’s really important. If you think about everything your mom has done for you, you’ll call her at some point today. Even five minutes of “updates and I love yous” will make a huge difference in her day. And she deserves it.
No, this darling young woman above at various stages of adolescence is not a mom. BUT, … these photos of her growing up were taken especially because her mom wanted to mark the changes in each of her children before they left the house. Maddie has a sister and brother (Paiton and Quinton respectively) and we photographed them too.
An idea: If you have a book club of moms, if you and your sisters or sisters-in-law get together regularly, why not schedule a session for all of you with your kiddos to change things up? Of course, family photos as Mother’s Day gifts are a natural, but we also do multi-generation photos and those are not only wonderful framed and hung but are perfect for cards and gifts later around other holidays.

Easter & Spring Orchard Portrait Sessions
We’ve been the exclusive photographers for an orchard in our region for many years and we always look forward to taking families through the lines of trees and creating memorable portraits of them for Easter or spring or just to capture their families in the spring of the year.
If we’ve learned anything, it’s 1) that these portraits are some of the most beautiful we take each year and 2) that we never know what effect the weather will have on the orchard. While we will depend on the weather, we are decidedly hopeful and booking dates for the second and third weeks of March. Wilkes Wedding Expo ~ March 11, 2018

at the John A. Walker Center on the campus of Wilkes Community College
Pixels on Paper, along with other professionals from the wedding industry, will be in attendance to chat with you about your dreams for your big day. Pixels has been a vendor at this annual event for years, and we’ve discovered that it’s not just a great way for us to showcase what we do best, but we’ve met some of the best people and couples whose engagement, bridal and weddings we’ve photographed over the years. Many have become lifelong family friends.

Tickets online for brides-to-be are $5 and for brides and friends of the bride at the door, they are $8. You can expect to find caterers, furniture rentals, djs, reps for various wedding venues, invitation and stationary options, crafts, décor ideas, dresses, gifts and more. Kelly Shumate, the host of this event and owner of Bridal Traditions is one of my great friends and we never miss an opportunity to collaborate and support each other. fur babies ~ our first kids in photos
We are dog lovers. We love animals. Our dog Chelsea and cat Sulley were our children before Master Finley hit the planet and they are now his siblings, Chelsea in particular is minder and sellout fan. She’s done. She met him, signed the papers and they are bonded for keeps.
You don’t have to tell us about loving pets, peeps. We soooooooooooooo get it and we relate to clients who want their beloved animals included in holiday cards, engagement portraits, kid and family photos, as part of celebrating rescue centers and pet adoptions. Why leave them out? They are there – day in and day out – in our lives, during meals, giving love, making requests with their voices and paws, comforting us and “doing life” with us. We say: INCLUDE YOUR PETS and we also take portraits just of them, should you want to have a great memory captured for posterity. If it matters to you, it matters to us, you know?
