If you read the story in the previous blog post about Megan and Jeff’s engagement session then you already know how excited we were to photograph their Charlotte NC wedding at the Mint Museum. (If you missed that blog post read it here.) They were fun, precious, and oh so in love. The sweetest sentiment, XOXO defines them and they’ve got tons of text messages to each other that prove it. Try to spot all of those simple but meaningful little letters of the alphabet throughout the detail wedding photos. Thank you Megan and Jeff for letting us photograph a special day in your love story.

When we first met Megan and Jeff for their wedding consult, there was just something that seemed to click and the feeling that we really wanted to photograph their wedding. When the call came in to let us know they wanted to hire us for their Charlotte wedding photography at the Mint Museum on Randolph, we were seriously excited.
Since all of our wedding packages now come with a complimentary engagement session, the next thing to do was plan out where they wanted to go. They both loved the idea of uptown Charlotte and doing their engagement session in and around the Fourth Ward park area. The park is nice, but the surrounding areas offer up so much in the lines of scenery, texture and opportunity to have a little fun. We literally set out and walked the area, stopping at a few spots we knew we wanted to capture and at several places in between that seemed to just catch our eye. And they completely rocked it from start to finish!
The only other preference that Megan had for their session, was a night shot of the Charlotte skyline behind them. We knew just the spot! What we did not expect was the level of silliness that could be reached at the end of an engagement session as the evening cooled off after a hot day. As Megan and Jeff posed for the shot, Megan said to Jeff that he looked a little like Clark Kent. It just happened to come up that Ryan had a Superman t-shirt in the car (necessary equipment for proper photographers by the way) and Jeff agreed to do a few extra poses with Megan to round out the session. The words crazy fun come to mind.
It was an awesome afternoon/evening and we had so much fun getting to know Megan and Jeff during the session, that the day of the wedding was much smoother. Not only because we had connected on a fun level, but they learned how to pose just right and were now more comfortable with us behind the cameras. Those are the best benefits to come out of doing an engagement session with us, lots of fun and connecting to make the day of wedding photography that much better.

Denny & Kaitlyn live in Charlotte, NC but rather than have a Charlotte wedding they opted for a NC Mountain destination wedding in Hendersonville, NC. As husband and wife wedding photographers that love to travel anywhere anytime, a Hendersonville wedding was a wonderful opportunity for us to photograph in a new scenic backdrop.
The wedding venue was Raymond’s Garden Center. Raymond’s also grew and designed all the wedding flower arrangements and wedding bouquets. The ceremony was in the middle of the nursery surrounded by all the flowers and trees you can imagine. A tent was on the property for the wedding reception. Although the skies were gray and overcast the weather was perfect for wedding photography and all the colors in the gardens and coral worn by the wedding party was vibrant.
Kaitlyn and Denny shared a “first look” with with each other before the ceremony. This moment was a time to ease nerves and anxiety. It also allowed the bride and groom to have a time to themselves to relish in the moment before being surrounded by people and caught up in the rush of the rest of their wedding day. The grin on Denny’s face when he saw his bride is a memory we’ll never forget and with us photographing that moment from a distance never will they.
As the wedding ceremony began the rain also started to fall. Everyone took it in stride. Kaitlyn at one point during the ceremony looked up to the sky and smiled as if nothing was going to dampen her day. Even rain can’t take away from the beauty of NC Mountain weddings. They finalized their vows and Denny sealed it with a very romantic dip and kiss as husband and wife.
The down-pouring rain encouraged us to get creative with post ceremony wedding photos. We found a hidden treasure inside one of Raymond’s greenhouses.
After photos everyone was ready to celebrate under the shelter of the tent. And party they did. The dance floor stayed hopping all night thanks to Gordon Hensley of Digital DJs, one of our favorite wedding vendors to work with who is also located in the NC High Country.
It was such an honor to be a part of this wedding and we are grateful to Denny and Kaitlyn for choosing Pixels On Paper as their wedding photographer and allowing us to capture their photography and memories from their beautiful NC mountain destination wedding.

We were blessed beyond measure to photograph Maggie & Seager’s Charlotte wedding. Not just because it’s always a blessing to be the chosen wedding photographer but because Maggie is the 3rd McConnell sibling who’s wedding we have photographed. The first wedding was in 2006 when Maggie was still a teenager! We’ve shared an incredible closeness with this family and her groom Saeger is a perfect addition.
In Maggie’s own words the best thing about her wedding day: “The best thing about my wedding day was speaking my vows and hearing my best friend pledge his love forever to me! Everything went off absolutely perfect, but even if it hadn’t nothing could have made it any less special. I will never forget the sound of Saeger’s voice and his sincerity as he spoke those vows to me. That will always be my most cherished moment.”
Although both Maggie and Saeger now live in Florida, the wedding and reception took place at Quail Hollow Country Club in Charlotte only one week after the Wells Fargo Golf Tournament. For Maggie the location was special because it was just down the street from the neighborhood where she grew up. The location gave her the opportunity to introduce those from Florida to the place that she called “home”.
What made this Charlotte wedding unique was it’s southern charm and elegance. The royal blue and yellow (Maggie’s favorite) color pallet was bright and happy. Plus she had one of the most gorgeous cakes we’ve ever seen created by Wow Factor Cakes.
Our prayer for Maggie and Saeger is that their marriage will be filled with immeasurable blessings!

From the moment we first met Ashley and Phil in Charlotte, NC to discuss their wedding photography, we knew their wedding day was going to be a fun day. Not only did they pick one of our favorite venues, the Holiday Inn Center City, but they were also open to whatever creative ideas we came up with for their wedding photos.
From the moment the photos started with Ashley and her bridesmaids, through photos with Phil and his guys, the day just seemed to click. The Holiday Inn offers so many opportunities for great photos, the rooftop is one of our favorites, and was the perfect opportunity for Phil and Ashley to have a moment together, just them (and us of course…) before the day went into high gear.
The ceremony, held on the rooftop rotunda and lead by Reverend Patrick Malloy, went as smooth as you could ask for with nearly perfect weather. Following the ceremony and the family portraits at the ceremony site, we headed into the streets of uptown with the entire bridal party to photograph more wedding pictures.
On the Holiday Inn’s rooftop rotunda, the wedding ceremony site was transformed into the wedding reception site and the sounds from Split Second Sound DJ Derek pumped through the party. Introductions of the Bride and Groom lead straight into their first dance and then into cake smashing. Yes, it’s the moment all wedding guests egg-on, but only occasionally happens. In the end, even with wedding cake icing in the Bride’s eye, the party went on long into the night. Wedding guests enjoyed the opportunity to step into the photo booth from ShutterBooth Charlotte to capture their memories while creating a guestbook for Ashley and Phil. One final serenade of “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver ended the night as wedding guests joined together on the dance floor to send-off Ashley and Phil into newlywed bliss.
Congratulations, and a huge thank you to Ashley and Phil for the amazing wedding day!
