Pixels On Paper | NC Wedding Photographers | October Wedding Anniversaries

October is one of the more beautiful months for weddings in our area. It’s a month of seasonal transition which means you take a chance with weather – as with April and May. We cannot recall an October wedding that wasn’t amazing. Sometimes, the weather drives us indoors, but when the temperature and setting are on your side, it can be golden, … pardon the pun.

pixels vendor spotlight: Bridal Traditions Wedding and Prom Attire

Pixels On Paper Photography All About Prom 2014 Photo

Somehow, after all of these years and too many collaborations to count, we’ve never blogged about Bridal Traditions as a beloved and favorite vendor and partner of ours. Kelly Shumate, the owner of BT, is a dear friend and not only have we worked with her, but for her, creating her custom logo and branding.Shumate Wedding Anniversary Bride and Groom photo

We also took her wedding renewal portraits in one of the more unique and beautiful sessions we’ve had with a bride and groom. Honestly, that’s the word for Kelly and the options and perspective she provides to her customers at Bridal Traditions and beYOUtiful Promsunique. Kelly built her business from the ground up starting with a vision but only working at it part-time. She found gowns for weddings, provided dresses and accessories for proms, and later participated in prom campaigns like All About Prom where she could supply the right attire to each lady. By 2008, with no debt (NO. DEBT.) and a storefront, Kelly left her other job and became fulltime owner, operator and visionary for BT.All About Prom 2013Alicia Porter Bridal Portraitsprom boho fashion portrait photography by Wilkesboro NC Photographers Pixels On PaperCaudle Bridal photoGoforth/Harrison Pixels On Paper Photography Bridal portrait photography photoKelly is fun to collaborate with because she brings so many creative and clever options to the table when we’re the photographers for a particular promotion or event. You can have the word “Traditions” in your business name and still be modern, fun and completely distinct. Every bride, every prom attendee wants to be and look remarkable. You like Scarlett O’Hara? Kelly and her team have got ya. Love The Great Gatsby? Done. Bohemian Chic? She can make you into that perfect gypsy. We look forward to many more years of working with Kelly and her amazing retail operations at Bridal Traditions and beYOUtiful Prom Attire.

wedding expos ~ get ready, ya’ll!!

[with the oh-so-familiar backup music] “It’s the MOST won-der-ful tiiiiiiiiime of the yeeeeeeeeear!”
Ok, actually that was Christmas and it’s over, people. Valentine’s Day is also over and we hope it went well for ya. Spring is around the corner and that means – for those of us in the business and those out there who are engaged – Wedding Season. It’s a time when brides, friends of the bride, mothers of brides, coworkers of the bride and All God’s Children are making haste to get to a bridal show or wedding expo.
Expos are where you get ideas and find the people you want to work with as you plan your wedding. At Pixels, it’s where we can show who we are and what we will do to make your day exactly what you want it to be. We love meeting brides, couples and families while visiting with favorite and new vendors. And it’s where we meet YOU. Some of our favorite clients were met at bridal and wedding expos.
We believe in cross pollination when it comes to ideas. Good ideas come from everywhere, and if you’re a photographer it could be an ad, something overheard or read. It could be a headline we saw in the airport on the cover of Outside Magazine. Seriously. You never know where your next idea will come from, so part of going to wedding expos is to get inspiration.

Pixels will be participating in the following upcoming wedding expos, displaying photos, meeting couples, and accepting clients for 2015 & 2016 wedding dates.

summer weddings are just around the corner

The recent 70+ degree weather in the middle of February has had us thinking a lot about Spring and even Summer along with what the weddings we have in store will bring.  Those thoughts lead us back to the images of last July’s Summer wedding we photographed in Charleston, South Carolina.  If you’re like us the first thoughts of an outdoor Charleston wedding in July are of unbearable heat and 100% humidity.  Lucky for us as well as our friends Erica & Mark Makowski, the Bride and Groom, that wasn’t the case.  It was only in the 80s! And the images we captured that day will forever remind us of great summertime memories.

Enjoy a look back or maybe a look forward into warmer weather soon to come.
