an outdoor & themed maternity shoot
I LOVE seeing intention, purpose and participation from clients in our photo shoots and Judy Saas had all three. She and her husband Travis Senter are great friends of ours that have recently invested in our full year baby photography plan. [Contact us to learn more.]
Judy came to me with some ideas around her maternity portrait session in October 21st when she would be about 37 weeks pregnant. She wanted a theme that was about strength, independence and the go-getter atitude she hopes to instill in the little girl she was expecting. One of the characters she chose was Rosie the Riveter – the WWII icon of strength and fortitude that is now a symbol of feminism. The perfect location for that was in a friend’s garage which is appropriately themed and adorned with a classic hot rod.
Seriously – come on! The image of Judy above just kills me every time I look at it. Wouldn’t you love to have that picture of your mom to look at someday?
The second phase of the shoot was a sharp pivot and represents both Judy and Travis’ love of nature. Judy thought, “water.” These two spend a great deal of their free time in kayaks on the rivers in western NC. So, even though it was 42 degrees outside, Mama to be was determined to wade in the New River in Jefferson NC to capture a shot. The photos do not disappoint and I think are some of my favorites that capture a dreamy vision of Judy and the Mom she is.
We love family portraits whether they are set in the studio, the great outdoors, a specific location like the mountains or high country, or on our property in our outdoor portrait garden. Pixels on Paper photographs, engagements and weddings, brides, and special events and portraits of all kinds in our Wilkesboro, NC studio. We would be honored to meet with you, learn about you and your family and be a part of taking special portraits that will become, we hope, family heirlooms.
