According to the couple, their favorite moment was just after the ceremony, when they realized “we really are married – the dream is real” and could bask in it. A close second and third were being with their families before the ceremony and the reception where everyone could chat, mix, mingle and eat afterwards.
What we loved was how they incorporated so much heritage. Courtney did this for her bridal portraits as well. Generations of family china patterns from both sides were used as the place settings during the reception and the decor used featured orchard and farm elements including homestead doors, ladders, and apple crates.
Both Courtney and Cody were relaxed and excited throughout the entire day and Cody in his normal comedic fashion caused a roar of laughter when he wore a head lamp to remove Courtney’s garter.
Courtney told us how quickly they felt it all went by, but that – if given the chance for a do-over – they wouldn’t have changed a thing.

This couple – Sarah & Daniel – is another one we absolutely adore. They are filled with energy, love, faith and light and their bond is apparent to everyone around them. We photographed their engagement session (where Sarah was lured out onto a ledge despite her fears – check it out) and the couple relaxed together on the trails of the NC mountains.
Their wedding – at Thanks to Calvary Baptist Church in Elkin NC – was a combination of their specific choices and understated elegance.
Even though the bride and groom don’t traditionally see each other before their vows, these two were together – blindfolded – and they prayed for the ceremony and for the health of their love, life and marriage.
Sarah chose a tea length gown, in the style of Audrey Hepburn in the movie Funny Face, because she loved the simplicity and the ability to stay cool during their late summer wedding. Her bouquet of succulents was exceptionally beautiful as well. Daniel and groomsmen wore blue and the guys skipped ties and boutonnieres to keep it low key.
The details at this wedding were striking, personal and fun. The groomsmen and bridesmaids stayed seated during the ceremony. The pews were flanked with quotes from Corinthians 13 beautifully scripted on wooden boards, there were succulents, cupcakes, dinosaurs and the guests signed Jenga playing pieces instead of a guest book and merry-making, laughter and joy was just palpable.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
