pixels’ vendor spotlight: edenhouse floral & events
Deanna Reid, owner of Edenhouse Floral & Events, has been a collaborator and co-conspirator of ours since 2013. In a word: talented.
Creative.
Inspiring. That’s 3 and we’re stopping there, but suffice it to say, she and her team do amazing work.
She’s created floral arrangements for weddings and events we’ve photographed, flower crowns for our portrait clients, and arrangements for our own personal needs. Ryan is wearing one of her flower crowns right now.
Kidding. But the truth is, Deanna brings the juice. Check out the below.
I think, on some level, we all believe that we can sort of “do our best” and get similar results to those of the professionals. Occasionally, this is true, but it’s rare. Deanna uses uses a huge array of flowers, and combines textures and objects in all of her designs. And she has a feel for clients and adds that spark that completes a vision.
We’ve heard nothing but rave reviews from our clients who’ve worked with Deanna, be it on price, service, communication or finished products. She is our go-to recommendation for floral needs. wedding venue spotlight: holiday inn city center, charlotte
Wedding clients tend to search for locations that will do two handfuls of things really well, AND be easy to get to AND have great views, catering options, a Plan B space and all sorts of other amenities and accommodations. Take a thoughtful look at the Holiday Inn City Center Charlotte. This may be exactly what you’re casting for.
We want to see the sky, but be cool inside for our August wedding. Is that possible? Does the venue have rooms for everyone and places to gather between events? Can we be inside for the ceremony and then walk a short distance and be outside? Are there things to do around the venue? Can we dance underneath the stars at our reception?
Yes – to all of those. Charlotte is a big place, but you can gather those you love in one single spot and celebrate. The Holiday Inn has everything in terms of help with planning, catering, rooms, of course, a gorgeous open patio to say vows beneath and outside its walls is a city ready to be discovered and roamed and played in.
We’ve photographed lots of weddings there and the number of indoor and outdoor options for amazing photos, regardless of the time of year, is noteworthy. The windows and reflections, lighting and skyline are all perfect for weddings and parties of all kinds.

wedding venue spotlight: leatherwood mountains resort
If you’ve ever had a vision of a mountain location that is textbook beatific – this would absolutely be it. Leatherwood Mountain Resort. It’s a favorite spot of ours for several reasons.
Because we have many favorite venues for photo shoots and events we cover, part of showing some love for them is to share a few with you guys who are looking for spots or know someone who is. We’re happy to help. One would have to be Leatherwood Mountains Resort in Ferguson, NC. Misty’s great-grandfather’s family once owned all the land at Leatherwood and many family members were raised in the small log cabin on the site called, “The Hendrix Homeplace.” The rock chimney cabin stage now serves as a backdrop for various key portraits at wedding ceremonies. The personal connection and that feeling of time-bending continuity happens to us every time we shoot there. 
For those couples who are planning or thinking of getting started, Abbie Hanchey is the wedding coordinator at Leatherwood and she and her team are indispensable when it comes to finding out what you really want, planning with you and then taking care of guests. Leatherwood also:
- offers both indoor and outdoor options, from small elopements to large wedding ceremonies;
- is the only equestrian resort of its kind in the area for horse lovers;
- has onsite cabin rentals that can accommodate the wedding party and all guests;
- is completely remote. There is no cell phone service; and

vendor spotlight: winding creek wedding barn
Misty spent an amazing day at Winding Creek Wedding Barn – a destination wedding location in Yadkin County, NC, doing a photo shoot complete with models, catering, clothing, makeup and hair. Winding Creek touts its scenery, laid-back feel, on site bridal salon, rolling farmland and rustic elegance.
The place is beautiful.
We love outdoor photo shoots and a scan of our wedding and engagement sessions (in fact our family portraits as well) italicizes this. Winding Creek is a PERFECT outdoor wedding venue.
Helping to create the mood for the day at Winding Creek were several other fabulous vendors. Clothing and accessories were provided by Bridal Traditions; hair and makeup styles were created by Cali Stott; the cake was made by Sweet Thing Bakery & Café and the catering was from Third Branch Café. All of these vendors are definitely worth a look if you’re planning your wedding.
Winding Creek Wedding Barn is a find for those who are interested in a place that caters to what wedding parties need and want, with a relaxed yet stunning vibe.

wilkes wedding expo | pixels on paper future trophy bride photo booth
We always have so much fun at the bridal shows we participate in. Our philosophy is that we have fun doing what we do, and we love to show that to people. That was never more evident than at the Wilkes Wedding Expo held at the John A. Walker Center in Wilkesboro on Sunday, March 11.
From the time the doors opened, despite the large crowd, we were able to spend some time with brides-to-be (and grooms too!). They were able to browse through all of our sample albums, get pricing information and check our available dates. Misty had people lined up just to get in to see all of our work. It was almost difficult at times to see everyone because it was so busy. If we met you at the show and haven’t already scheduled a one-on-one consult with you be sure to call or email us to set that up.
We also had our Future Trophy Bride contest going on in full effect. The photo booth was set up with more props than should be allowed in one space. All of the Brides that signed up were given our awesome Future Trophy Bride pink t-shirt, given free run at the props, and asked to jump into the photo booth for a few photos. There were some absolutely crazy things going on in the booth. No one around was safe from being pulled into a shot, future-mother-in-laws included!
Big congratulations and thank you to Kelly Shumate with Bridal Traditions Wedding and Prom Attire for organizing and hosting such a successful event. The turn out was amazing, and all of her hard work certainly showed. We hope that all the wedding vendors in attendance experienced a successful show.
And last but not least, we cannot forget to mention Misty’s mom, Kathy. She was invaluable with the booth at the show. She managed to keep Ryan in line with the photo booth, even when there was a long line forming for people wanting their chance.
Anyone planning a wedding will get another chance to visit our wedding photo exhibit booth and get a free t-shirt if you participate in our photo booth this Sunday, March 25th, for the Association of Consultants and Events Services (ACES) High Country Wedding Expo. The expo will be at the ASU Summit Trail Solarium on the Campus of ASU in Boone, NC. Admission is $5 or 5 canned goods. Parking is free Sunday in the College Street / Library Parking Deck. Fashion show begins at 2 p.m. We look forward to meeting many new Brides!
