The Arnold’s might as well be in our family tree, because we love them so much and have been able to experience so many sweet moments with them over the years while behind the lens. Their wedding was exceptionally beautiful. Then came a sweet Irish blossom – Berklee – their daughter and first child. We wandered behind them through our favorite peach orchard and later had the privilege of helping husband and father Jeremy surprise his wife Meghan with a photo shoot when she was preggers with this little man below. It was a gorgeous day with lots of love and coordinated outfits.
During the outdoor maternity shoot that Jeremy set up with us, we grabbed some images with a very special prop: one of Jeremy’s baseballs from his time as a college player. They wrote Wyatt’s name on it in anticipation of his arrival. So we made sure to incorporate the ball into some of the shots of Wyatt.
Seeing these four again and especially watching Miss Berklee with her new, real life baby was – as we say in the South – precious. We love this family so much and now if time could just slow down for all of us so that we can enjoy these little moments just a little bit longer.

Recently, we blogged about a newly engaged couple – Courtney and Cody. They were engaged in this very orchard and on the very same day that we shot photos of the now bride-to-be’s family. The Parkers were all part of the “engagement plan” that allowed Cody to get down on one knee while Courtney was distracted.
This family not only cheered when she said yes, they wanted us to get photos of them as well. It was a gorgeous day, the right occasion and the perfect setting. I love it when a plan comes together!
The Parkers already planned to have us photograph their family portraits in the Tevepaugh peach orchard, and Courtney believed that was why they were all present. After Cody popped the question and got a YES, we were also able to celebrate and get the groom-to-be and family portraits as well. Mom Kim especially wanted to carpe diem because all of the lives of her kids are going in different directions. [Aside: You guys know how this story goes… and it’s why family portraits – from first birthdays to reunions decades later – matter so much.] With Courtney’s engagement, they are gaining another son in Cody; they have a son who is away at college, and the youngest daughter just turned 16 and is now driving and will be the next out of the house. What better time to capture everyone together! We will have the pleasure of being Courtney and Cody’s wedding photographers in the fall when they tie the knot and we’re already so excited. Between the planning and anticipation, we’re encouraging these two to take time to enjoy all the elements of this chapter of their lives. Courtney is going to be a beautiful bride and these photos below are the proof. Mom is happy to have recent portraits of her other two kids as well and we were happy to oblige. It doesn’t hurt that this is a very photogenic family.

The Arnold family is special and so is the impulse behind this photo session. We had the pleasure of photographing Meghan and Jeremy’s wedding and capturing the first photos of their daughter Berklee as a newborn and 6 month old. Our newest session with this family was in February of this year and was engineered on the down low by husband Jeremy. Wife and mom, Meghan is due with their second child, a little boy they plan to name Wyatt and Jeremy decided that he wanted to surprise Meghan with the maternity photo session as a Christmas gift.
I’ve gotta insert a flashback here. We sort of recreated a moment we captured in an orchard photo session from a couple of years ago. I love seeing Berklee’s little hands touching Meghan’s belly in between her parents. It’s perfectly reminiscent of her seated between them when she was just about a year old.
As they prepare for the newest Arnold to show up, he was included in the shoot – beyond Meghan’s belly. The baseball with Wyatt’s name was one of Jeremy’s while he played baseball for UNC Chapel Hill. We look forward to meeting this little man and seeing his resemblance to his sister and parents and what parts of his personality shine.
It’s hard not to include another photo from the orchard where we tied the two sessions together. Although Berklee is bigger, she can still be tossed in the air and loves it! I saw the same sweet smiles and same crazy joy on their faces.
We just LOVE having them as clients and cannot wait to meet new addition Wyatt. We feel confident that Berklee is going to be a wonderful big sister. Thanks, Arnold family! See you soon, we hope, with member number four.

As the exclusive photographers at one of our favorite places – a nearby orchard – we look forward to gathering there with families, couples, prom goers and the like to capture them among some pretty gorgeous blooms. Yes, March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb, but at some point during that crazy change-over, this orchard is magic. The weather can and does affect it but we stand at the ready to photograph.
To see the kinds of photos we’ve taken in previous years – have a look! And gang, it’s time to book. So consider this your official reminder and contact us to schedule your session.

This short video cracked us up, because in at least one of these clips you can see your own mom, perhaps. And don’t freak out: the video is from a couple of years ago. Mother’s Day is May 13 this year so you’ve got a couple of months to think about how great it would be to schedule mother’s day portraits or family portraits to give to her. You KNOW it goes without saying that the two things your mom wants more than anything are gifts that become mementos and time with her.
Moms….I love mine so much it hurts. She’s my best friend and we laugh, learn, garden and unpack the world together. Now I am one. Finley has made me so aware of why mothers say and do all that they do. It’s humbling and it’s wild and Ryan and I feel like our hearts are going to explode some days due to the amount of unexpected joy and revelation he’s brought into our lives.
Holidays are daily if you get the “National Calendar” eblasts that celebrate everything from National Peanut Butter Day to National Tell a Fairy Tale Day to National Sleeping in Public Day. [No, I did not make those up.] But Mother’s Day, ya’ll…….. it’s really real and it’s really important. If you think about everything your mom has done for you, you’ll call her at some point today. Even five minutes of “updates and I love yous” will make a huge difference in her day. And she deserves it.
No, this darling young woman above at various stages of adolescence is not a mom. BUT, … these photos of her growing up were taken especially because her mom wanted to mark the changes in each of her children before they left the house. Maddie has a sister and brother (Paiton and Quinton respectively) and we photographed them too.
An idea: If you have a book club of moms, if you and your sisters or sisters-in-law get together regularly, why not schedule a session for all of you with your kiddos to change things up? Of course, family photos as Mother’s Day gifts are a natural, but we also do multi-generation photos and those are not only wonderful framed and hung but are perfect for cards and gifts later around other holidays.
